RIE Coatings, LLC.
Valley, MN Full Time
POSTED ON 4/9/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/8/2026
We're looking for a hands-on Quality Technician who takes pride in catching the small stuff before it becomes big problems. If you're the kind of person who notices when something's off, speaks up, and helps fix it, you'll fit right in here.

This role is right in the middle of the action on the shop floor. You'll work closely with production, keep our quality systems on track, and make sure what we ship meets expectations every time.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Keep our quality processes documented, trained, and actually followed
  • Run through daily/weekly/monthly quality checklists (and stay on top of them)
  • Lead monthly quality training for production employees (keep it practical and useful)
  • Perform internal audits of our quality system
  • Track trends, dig into root causes, and help improve how we do things
  • Complete inspections and tests, such as:
  • Coating thickness checks
  • Torque & tension testing
  • Oven profiles
  • Layered process audits

Handle testing and calibration (viscosity cups, temp guns, pH probes, calipers, etc.) Work with the Quality Manager to resolve non-conformances and hold tags Stop production when needed if quality is at risk (and back it up with facts) Check in weekly with the Quality Manager to review what's going on

What You Bring

  • Strong communication skills-you can talk to anyone on the floor and get your point across
  • You follow processes and aren't afraid to hold others accountable
  • Calm under pressure when things get busy or something goes wrong
  • A team-first mindset-you want to improve things, not just point them out
  • Flexibility for schedule changes or overtime when needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 years in a quality role (metal finishing experience is a big plus)
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Nice To Have

  • Additional education or training in Quality Management

Physical & Work Environment

  • You'll be on your feet, standing, bending, reaching, and moving throughout the day
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Working around chemicals and varying temperatures, typical of a metal finishing shop
  • We'll provide reasonable accommodations where needed

Why This Role Matters

Quality is what keeps our customers coming back. You're the person making sure we get it right-and helping us get better every day.

If you're looking for a role where you can make an impact, work with a solid team, and keep things running right, we'd like to talk.

  • The anticipated starting hourly rate for this position is $19.00 - $22.00. The starting rate offered is determined by relevant experience, education, and certifications. This position is also eligible for quarterly incentives based on company performance.
  • RIE provides a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) retirement plan with a generous company match, 9 paid holidays, paid time off, continuing education and advancement opportunities, and so many more reasons to work here that can't be listed.

Schedule

Ideally, this role would work Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am – 6:00 pm, and Fridays, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, in order to provide support to our 2nd shift. There is some flexibility to this schedule which can be discussed during the interview process.
