Physician Assistant Urgent Care

Brief Description

Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for providing primary health care and treatment of patients under the supervision of or in consultation with a physician.

Job Functions

• Provides general patient care under the direction of or in consultation with a physician utilizing the process of observation, assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Orders, interprets and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient clinical problems and health care needs.
• Consults with physician regarding unusual or abnormal cases and makes appropriate referrals for evaluation or treatment.
• Provides input in the development of policies, programs, procedures or protocols for the clinic.
• Performs preventative health counseling and instructs patients in treatment plans.
• Performs patient follow-up.
• Assists physicians with procedures.
• Recognizes and responds appropriately to medical emergencies including telephone triage.
• Serves as a patient advocate and resource to clinical staff.
• Assists in planning, evaluation, coordination and revision of patient care services.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
  
  

Minimum Education/Work Experience

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and formal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
• CPR Certification
  
  

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Ability to effectively handle high-stress fast paced environment
• Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions
• Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
  
  

License/Certifications

• Current Minnesota Nurse Practitioner licensure and CPR Certification
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years previous NP/PA experience in a primary care or urgent care setting
