Medical Assistant/LPN ENT

Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for performing a variety of patient care activities to assist providers and nursing personnel in a specialty clinic. Facilitates patient/physician/provider communication and coordination of care.

Job Functions

• Escorts patients to examination room and obtains vitals and documents in EMR
• Supports physician in documentation of patient’s visit by entering physician’s dictation in to the EMR system during the patients visit
• Administers prescribed medications/vaccine’s and treatments in accordance with clinic policies and scope of certification/licensure
• Prepares equipment and assists providers during examination, testing and treatment of patients
• Performs room turn over in patient rooms between cases and at the end of day
• Performs specialty procedures/tests as directed by the Physician
• Helps maintain stocked supplies and sterilizes instruments/exam rooms
• Assists in arranging referrals/prior authorizations as necessary
• Provides patient education
• Performs other duties as assigned

• Graduation from Medical Assisting program or School of Practical Nursing
• Current LPN Licensure or Medical Assistant (MA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
• Current CPR certification

Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities

• Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Ability to effectively handle high-stress fast paced environment
• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to serve patients in a friendly and efficient manner
• Knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
• Ability to work autonomously and as a team
• Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above

Preferred Qualification

• EMR experience
• 2 years Urgent Care experience

Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation such as: the requirements of the position, experience, education, knowledge, and skills along with location and internal equity. Pay listed does not include any shift, weekend, or other differentials.
