Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Strive to achieve company objectives while demonstrating company’s Mission Statement, Quality Policy, and Ridgeview Principles in the performance of daily activities. Analyze, diagnose, maintain, and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gages, and machinists’ hand tools according to equipment, structure, and systems according to Tool Room departmental instructions following Governmental and/or Company safety and housekeeping policies/procedures. 

  • Follow safety policies including, lock out / tag out and consistently use required personal protective equipment.
  • Actively participate in the safety initiatives, hazard identification, and continuous improvement efforts. (Take-2, See Something, Say Something).
  • Ensure quality requirements are achieved by reading and following Quality communications, and following established process.
  • Identify and communicate discrepancies, damaged goods, and/or inventory issues to leadership.
  • Align and adjust dies, punches and fixtures to ensure accurate stamping.
  • Navigate and use MLS function and follow instruction provided on the work order.
  • Grind, file, and shim components for proper fit and assembly of tools and dies.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on dies, such as: polishing, sharpening, and cleaning to ensure optimal performance according to PM schedule and instructions.
  • Read, analyze and interpret blueprints and specifications to determine required action.
  • Use precise measuring instruments to verify tolerances and alignments.
  • Identify and communicate discrepancies, damaged goods, or inventory issues to leadership.
  • Maintain current hi-lo/crane certification through Ridgeview Industries.
  • Prior to operating, complete pre-shift safety inspections of overhead crane and / or hi-lo.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in alignment with 5S standards.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 1-2 years of experience in die setting stamping presses preferred.

·        High School diploma or equivalent education, (GED) with a journeyman certificate.

·        Ability to read, write, and interpret documents in English; as well as, speak effectively, present information, and respond to questions from other employees of organization.

·        Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

·        Working knowledge of tools of measurement; such as, tape measure, calipers, micrometers, quality check fixtures and others.

·        Strong understanding of machinery, tools and industrial processes.

·        Proficient in basic computer programs.

·        Eye for detail and accuracy.

·        Data driven approach to problem solving and decision making.


Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

·        Ability to lift, carry and move equipment, tools and materials weighing up to 70 pounds.

·        Extensive walking and standing.

·        Good hearing and vision; including up close vision with strong depth perception must be adequate to perform job.

·        Crouch, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, crawl and reach.

·        Overhead reaching, pushing and pulling heavy dies.

·        Feel, touch, and handle objects using hands and fingers.


Work Environment This position is performed in an active metal manufacturing environment. Employees work around operating machinery, moving mechanical equipment, powered industrial vehicles, overhead cranes, and heavy steel machines. The role involves exposure to elevated noise level, airborne industrial particles, vibration, temperature variations, and typical production floor activities including handling metal product that may have sharp edges.
