Twos Head Teacher
Location: Landmark Preschool – Westport, CT
Status: Full-time, 10-month faculty position
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Salary: $36,000–$44,000, based on experience
Position Overview
Landmark Preschool is seeking an exceptional Head Teacher for our Two’s classroom on the Westport campus. We are looking for a warm, engaging educator who is passionate about early childhood education and committed to creating a joyful, nurturing classroom where our youngest learners can grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
The Head Teacher is responsible for creating a developmentally appropriate learning environment that inspires curiosity, builds confidence, and lays a strong foundation for future learning. This role includes partnering closely with assistant teachers, collaborating with colleagues, and building meaningful relationships with families throughout the school year.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons aligned with Landmark Preschool's curriculum.
- Establish clear learning objectives for lessons, units, and classroom activities.
- Create lesson plans and adapt instruction to meet the individual needs of each student.
- Create a warm, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning through play.
- Establish and maintain positive classroom expectations and age-appropriate behavior management strategies.
- Partner with the Student Support Team to address students' academic, developmental, or behavioral needs.
- Supervise, mentor, and provide direction to Assistant Teacher(s).
- Participate in the evaluation of Assistant Teachers in accordance with school policies.
- Monitor and document each student's academic, social, and emotional growth and prepare progress reports.
- Build strong partnerships with families through conferences, regular communication, and ongoing collaboration.
- Supervise students throughout the school day, including lunch, rest time, arrival, dismissal, and outdoor play.
- Support the appropriate use of classroom technology, including SmartBoards, computers, and audiovisual resources.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, conferences, and school events.
- Contribute positively to the Landmark Preschool community while fostering a classroom culture built on kindness, curiosity, and respect.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field required.
- Teaching certification preferred.
- Minimum of three years of classroom teaching experience.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and build positive relationships with families.
- Commitment to creating a joyful, student-centered learning environment.
Additional Information
- This is a full-time, 10-month faculty position.
- The 2026–2027 academic year runs from August 25, 2026 through June 11, 2027.
- Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
- Salary range is $36,000–$44,000, commensurate with experience.
