Responsibilities
- Assist patients or residents with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates, accurately documenting all patient information in electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper procedures are followed in compliance with HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, including memory care strategies and behavioral health support
- Collaborate with nursing staff to deliver holistic patient care across various settings such as hospitals (including ICU and trauma centers), long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, and outpatient clinics
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols and utilizing equipment like the Hoyer lift safely and effectively
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure understanding of care plans and patient needs
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) recognized by state licensing boards
- Experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals (including Level I Trauma Centers), nursing homes, hospice settings, or outpatient clinics
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques necessary for delivering safe patient care
- Experience with specialized care areas including ICU, emergency medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health, or post-acute care is highly desirable
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting patients using equipment like Hoyer lifts and assisting with mobility needs
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges and support their unique needs
