Reporting to the Director of Student Financial Accounts, the Assistant Director plays a key role in supporting the financial operations of Rider University, with a primary focus on student billing, receivables, and collections. The Assistant Director also serves as a liaison between students, families, and various university departments to support financial transparency and customer service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee semester tuition and fee invoicing processes and maintain billing schedules.
- Work closely with Enrollment Services, Financial Aid, and Registrar's office to ensure timely and accurate disbursement and reconciliation of financial aid.
- Manage and update the processing of third-party billing for Federal, State, and County agencies as well as corporate invoicing.
- Manage accurate adjustments and reconciliation of the student insurance waivers and applications.
- Support the development and maintenance of payment plans, tuition insurance program, and third-party billing arrangements.
- Ensure compliance with FERPA, PCI-DSS, and university policies regarding student financial data and payment processing.
- Participate in software testing and implementation for system upgrades (eg. Banner, Workday, or PeopleSoft).
- Participates in special projects, policies updates and system updates as directed by Director.
Required Knowledge, Skills And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in a registrar’s office, student records, or academic services
- Knowledge of student information systems and FERPA regulations
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks required
- Experience with financial aid refunding and Title IV compliance.
- Familiarity with higher education finance regulations and best practices.
- Knowledge of collections laws and third-party billing
