Position Overview
The Department of Communication, Journalism and Media at Rider University seeks adjunct instructor(s) of Speech Communication for the Spring 2026 semester beginning Monday, January 26, 2026. There is a potential of a variety of sections for two different courses as follows:
COM 104 Speech Communication. This course examines basic communication principles and strategies of public speaking. Candidates should have experience teaching outlining, basic research techniques, general communication theory and platform skills. This course counts towards the fulfillment of the Essential Competencies element of the College of Arts and Sciences general education curriculum.
COM 290Professional/Strategic Speech. This course provides students in the College of Business with practical information necessary for effective communication in various business and professional settings. Covers communication processes, principles, and models in the modern organization. Class assignments are given with emphasis on developing a knowledge and practical understanding of informative, persuasive, and impromptu presentations.
S alary is $4,133.31 for a 3 credit course.

Required Knowledge, Skills And Experience
- M.A. or higher in Communication Studies or related field.
- Experience in teaching Speech Communication at the college level.
- Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks required.
- Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Communication Studies or related field.
