JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in literacy, mathematics, or a related field required. Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
Certification or Licensure: Must possess a valid Georgia teaching certificate in the appropriate grade level in math, ELA, reading, science, social studies, or special education. Endorsements in reading, dyslexia, teaching support and coaching, STEM, and/or mathematics are preferred.
Skills: Strong leadership skills and familiarity with adult learning. Knowledge of instructional curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, and effective instructional practices. Thorough understanding of the teaching/learning process. Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education. Ability to infuse technology into the curriculum. Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, school staff, students, parents, and the community. Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills. Excellent technological skills in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other instructional software.
Work Experience: Five years of experience as a certified elementary, middle school, or high school ELA, science, social studies, or math teacher is required.
PRIMARY DUTY:
This position is responsible for providing instructional support through effective one-on-one targeted support and professional learning to improve all aspects of the program by collaborating with colleagues in meeting the mission, goals, and educational objectives of the district’s educational program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify program needs and work with instructional staff to promote growth and learning opportunities within the district to improve instruction.
- Assist with the implementation of the Georgia standards and the selection and implementation of instructional materials that support ELA, mathematics, social studies, or science for all students.
- Support the integration of research-based practices in literacy across the content areas.
- Work with teachers on a one-on-one basis and in small group presentations in the implementation of grade-level instructional strategies.
- Recommend changes in teaching strategies and assist with the design of instructional activities that address all students’ deficiencies in ELA, mathematics, social studies, or science.
- Assist teachers with analyzing student work, developing, and analyzing assessments, interpreting data, assisting in intervention efforts, and evaluating coaching efforts and other professional learning offerings.
- Monitor all student performance and curriculum implementation through observations and one-on-one interactions and provide feedback to colleagues and administrators to improve instruction and student performance.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide teachers with suggestions and feedback in one-on-one meetings.
- Model direct instruction and intervention lessons for teachers and implement problem-solving strategies for classroom concerns about ELA, mathematics, social studies, and/or science instruction.
- Provide professional learning in support of Professional Learning Communities and follow-up observations to ensure content is implemented.
- Participate in professional learning and reviews of professional literature to maintain a high level of expertise in new instructional strategies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
