Job Summary
The Special Education Instructional Aide provides direct support to students with disabilities in both general education and specialized settings. Under the supervision of the Education Specialist, the Instructional Aide supports the implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs), helping students access instruction, build independence, and participate meaningfully in the school community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide direct support to students with IEPs in classroom and school settings (small group and 1:1 support as needed) Support the implementation of IEP goals, accommodations, modifications, and behavior plans with consistency and fidelity Assist students with academic tasks, social-emotional development, and behavioral regulation Support students with daily living needs, including toileting, feeding, and mobility, as appropriate Assist with health-related supports (e.g., feeding protocols, medication support) under the direction of the school nurse and appropriate staff Implement behavior support strategies and reinforce positive student behaviors Support student engagement and inclusion in general education settings and school-wide activities Prepare and adapt instructional materials to meet individual student needs Collect data on student progress toward IEP goals and share with supervising staff Collaborate regularly with members of the IEP team, including general education teachers, Education Specialists, related service providers, and administrators Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when working with students and families Qualifications Minimum Requirements Associate’s degree OR Completion of 48 college units Preferred Qualifications 1 year experience working with students with disabilities Experience in a school or urban educational setting Skills & Competencies Knowledge of child development and diverse learning needs Ability to implement individualized supports and interventions S
