Bilingual Case Manager (Vietnamese/English)

Your role: In support of the Wellness Program at Chinatown North Beach Mental Health Clinic, this position is responsible for supporting specialty mental health treatment team in providing office and field case management and community linkage resources to Vietnamese-speaking clients.

Status: Part Time (16-20 Hours/Week)

Essential Job Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide culturally competent case management services, including outreach, linkage, at program sites and/or in the field.
  • Collaborate with CTNB clinical staff, APIMHC providers, and other care providers in supporting client’s access to resources, as requested by client’s clinical providers
  • Provide on-site cultural linkage services which may include interpreting written correspondences, filling out forms with them. Example, low income PG&E form, citizenship application, housing application etc.
  • Liaison with and referrals to other agencies (i.e. housing, public assistance referrals), facilitating and/or escorting clients to obtain adequate social services (i.e. escorting to MediCal office)
  • Making medical/social services phone appointment reminders to clients.
  • Co-facilitate monthly community resources support group (i.e. psycho-ed on types of community resources, outings to various city social services locations); as requested by CTNB
  • Co-facilitate cultural celebration groups, as needed and requested
  • Collaborate with treatment team in client’s services plan and ongoing needs of support
  • Support CTNB program by providing resource information to program staff, as requested 
  • Support Asian & Pacific Islander Mental Health Collaborative activities.
  • Complete and maintain timely administrative and case management records and documentation related to client care, in accordance to standards specified by RAMS policies, clinical standards, and oversight agencies (e.g. CTNB, APIMHC, etc.)
  • Participate in professional development activities, including topic specific training, as needed.
  • Participate in case conferences, program team and staff meetings, in-service trainings and other staff development activities, as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum REQUIRED Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Health Education, Public Health, and other health & human services related fields from an accredited institution OR two years of experience providing similar types of services, required. 
  • At least one year of experience in working with the indigent & underserved populations (including those with mental health, substance abuse, and/or co-occurring substance abuse disorders, low income families), highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of San Francisco community resources/services (including health, mental health, substance abuse, housing, family support and resources, etc.), highly preferred.
  • Skills and experience working in a mental health/public health setting.
  • Bi-lingual fluency in Vietnamese and English in providing services
  • Bi-literal is highly preferred.
  • Computer literate (i.e. Zoom, Microsoft TEAMS, Microsoft offices)

Other PREFERRED Qualifications:

  • Strong connection with the Asians and Pacific Islanders communities in San Francisco, highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with the community mental health system and other health and human services in San Francisco, preferred.
  • Experience in and knowledge of working in programs with multi-cultural focus (with preference given to candidates who have worked in programs whose populations closely reflect those at RAMS). 
  • Strong commitment to the philosophy, goals, & mission of the organization, including providing culturally competent mental/behavioral healthcare services in a community setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively, function independently, and interact professionally with a diverse, multi-cultural, and interdisciplinary staff of all levels.
  • Familiarity with various counseling strategies and wellness recovery principles in working with clients with mental health, substance abuse, or co-occurring substance abuse issues
  • Strong commitment to the philosophy, goals, & mission of RAMS in providing community-based, culturally competent, and consumer-guided mental health and vocational services to the community
  • Commitment to engaging in professional development activities such as trainings, continuing education seminars, case conferences, and reviewing up-to-date material, etc., as related to vocational training strategies for clients served.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively, function independently, and interact professionally with a diverse, multi-cultural, and interdisciplinary staff of all levels.
  • Applicants with ability to provide bilingual & culturally competent services in Vietnamese, REQUIRED, due to the populations served
