Position: Drug Free & Community Health Coordinator
Location: Richland Center, WI – Onsite position
The Drug Free & Community Health Coordinator is primarily responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Drug Free Communities (DFC) grant and supporting community health initiatives. Approximately 80% of this role focuses on implementing evidence-based strategies to prevent youth substance abuse through coalition building and education. The remaining 20% supports community health priorities by promoting wellness, addressing social determinants of health, and fostering health equity in collaboration with healthcare teams and community partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Drug Free Communities Coordination (80%)
· Provide staff support to the community coalition; coordinate regular meetings to ensure implementation of strategic and work plans.
· Align coalition member activities with prevention goals and strategies.
· Communicate five-year strategic plan and work plans to stakeholders.
· Coordinate evidence-based prevention strategies.
· Facilitate community education and organize special events.
· Serve as a resource for Youth4Change organizations in local school districts.
· Report progress to the coalition and SAMHSA on grant objectives.
· Recruit and engage diverse community participants in coalition activities.
· Collect and analyze data to inform coalition decisions.
· Build relationships with community partners and statewide prevention networks.
Community Health Coordination (20%)
· Bridge gaps between community members and health/social services systems.
· Promote wellness through culturally appropriate health education.
· Assist individuals in accessing healthcare and overcoming barriers to care.
· Support community health initiatives identified in the Community Health Needs Assessment and Community Health Improvement Plan.
· Collaborate with healthcare teams and community-based organizations to address health priorities.
Education
· Associate or higher degree in Community Health Education, Public Health, Behavioral Sciences, or related field required.
· CHES® and Licensed Prevention Specialist preferred.
Experience
· Minimum of 1 year in substance abuse prevention or community health.
· Experience in community coalition building and youth/family-focused human services.
· Experience working with diverse populations and promoting health equity.
Knowledge and Skills Required
· Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking.
· Ability to build and maintain partnerships and work collaboratively with multi-sector teams.
· Knowledge of community health resources, social determinants of health, and cultural humility practices.
· Data collection, analysis, and reporting skills.
