POSITION SUMMARY

The Richland LEADS Coordinator manages and facilitates the Young Leaders Institute (YLI), a county-wide leadership and career-readiness program for Richland County high school students, and provides administrative support for Richland LEADS, a 501(c)(3) affiliate of Richland Area Chamber & Economic Development. This part-time, in-office role combines hands-on program coordination with general nonprofit administrative duties that keep Richland LEADS operating smoothly.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Young Leaders Institute Program Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for students, families, schools, employer hosts, and mentors participating in YLI.
  • Manage student recruitment and the application/selection process (August–September).
  • Recruit, onboard, and coordinate logistics with employer hosts across priority sectors (healthcare, manufacturing, government, business, nonprofit).
  • Plan and run the seven monthly program days (first Wednesdays, October–May excluding January, 9:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.), including site visits, team challenges, and career-pathway spotlights.
  • Prepare and adapt program materials aligned to BetterCulture's 20 Tenets of Culture curriculum for each program day.
  • Coordinate mentor onboarding and ongoing mentor engagement throughout the program year.
  • Administer pre/post reflective surveys, employer feedback forms, and Net Promoter Score tracking; compile results for reporting.
  • Produce program communications, including the student welcome packet, employer briefing materials, and press/promotional content.
  • Track attendance, retention, and program-day logistics; troubleshoot issues in real time.
  • Support continuous improvement of the program, including pilot testing new activities and incorporating participant feedback.

Administrative Support for Richland LEADS

  • Maintain organizational records, files, and documentation to support 501(c)(3) compliance.
  • Support scheduling, materials preparation, and minutes for Richland LEADS board meetings.
  • Assist with donor and sponsor correspondence, acknowledgments, and recordkeeping.
  • Track program and grant-related budgets and expenses; process invoices and reimbursements.
  • Support grant applications and reporting as needed.
  • Manage general correspondence, calendars, and scheduling for Richland LEADS activities.
  • Coordinate with Richland Area Chamber & Economic Development staff on shared administrative functions and facility use.

Social Media Management

  • Manage Richland LEADS programmatic social media posts to Richland Area Chamber & Economic Development accounts (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), including regular posting and content calendar upkeep.
  • Create and schedule content promoting YLI program days, student and employer stories, and Richland LEADS news and events.
  • Capture photos and short videos during program days and events for use across social channels and promotional materials.
  • Monitor accounts and engage with followers, partners, and the community in a timely, on-brand manner.
  • Track basic engagement metrics and share updates with the Executive Director.
  • Coordinate social media messaging with Richland Area Chamber & Economic Development's broader marketing and communications efforts.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's degree in education, nonprofit management, business, or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education will be considered.
  • Experience coordinating programs, events, or youth-focused initiatives strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple partners, deadlines, and moving pieces simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting to and coordinating with employers, school staff, and students.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.
  • Experience managing social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) for an organization or business; basic photo/video and graphic design skills (e.g., Canva) a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to employer sites during program days.
  • A genuine interest in youth leadership development and regional workforce development.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment with student, donor, and organizational information.


WORK ENVIRONMENT & SCHEDULE

  • Part-time position averaging 20–25 hours per week, with hours concentrated around program days and administrative deadlines.
  • Work is performed in-office at Richland Area Chamber & Economic Development, with travel to employer host sites on program days.
  • Program days occur on the first Wednesday of October, November, December, February, March, April, and May, 9:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
  • Occasional evening or off-hours availability may be needed for board meetings or special events.

  • Note: Group medical insurance is reserved for full-time employees is not included in this role.
