Steel Estimating Manager

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Steel Estimating Manager to lead our steel estimation team in delivering precise, competitive, and comprehensive project estimates. In this role, you will oversee the entire estimating process for steel structures, ensuring accuracy in cost projections, fostering strong client relationships through effective negotiation, and collaborating closely with project managers, contractors, and suppliers. Your expertise will drive profitability and efficiency across multiple construction projects by leveraging your deep knowledge of construction estimating, cost control, and project management principles. Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the preparation of detailed steel estimates for commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects using HeavyBid or similar estimating software.
• Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents thoroughly to develop accurate pricing strategies.
• Utilize Bluebeam for digital plan review, markup, and collaboration with design teams to clarify scope details.
• Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to secure optimal costs while maintaining quality standards.
• Collaborate with project management teams to develop budgets, schedules, and cost control measures throughout project lifecycles.
• Oversee bid preparation processes ensuring all estimates align with client expectations and company profitability goals.
• Monitor market trends in steel pricing and construction costs to maintain competitive edge and adjust estimates accordingly.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and support contract negotiations related to scope changes or claims.
• Provide mentorship to junior estimators and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the estimating department.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in construction estimating with a strong background in steel structures.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy under tight deadlines.
• Strong negotiation skills
• Proficiency in Bluebeam for plan review and markup; experience with other digital collaboration tools.
• In-depth knowledge of construction management principles, contracts, cost control strategies, and project management practices.
• Construction site experience is advantageous for understanding field conditions impacting estimates.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with clients, vendors, project teams, and internal stakeholders.
• A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field is preferred; relevant certifications are a plus but not required.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
