Job Summary
The Toto Café is more than just a place to eat it's where good food and good people come together. We're looking for a dependable, motivated Prep Cook to join our kitchen team. This is a hands-on role and the backbone of our kitchen: you'll get the day set up right so every dish that leaves the line is fresh, consistent, and on time.
What You'll Do
Food Prep
- Wash, peel, chop, and portion vegetables, meats, and other ingredients for daily service
- Prepare soups, sauces, dressings, and batch items following our recipes and portion standards
- Get prep lists knocked out ahead of service so the line stays stocked through peak hours
- Cook simple menu items as needed and monitor temps for food safety and quality
Kitchen Operations & Cleanliness
- Keep your work area clean, sanitized, and organized at all times
- Label, date, and rotate all product (FIFO) to keep everything fresh
- Set up and break down prep stations before and after shift
- Help with dishwashing, equipment cleaning, receiving deliveries, and restocking
Teamwork & Communication
- Work closely with cooks and front-of-house staff to keep service moving
- Communicate about prep levels, product shortages, and what needs ordering
- Jump in wherever the kitchen needs an extra hand
Quality & Standards
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures
- Take pride in consistency — same product, every day
- Watch portioning and trim waste to help control food cost
Other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Kitchen experience preferred but not required we'll train the right person
- Comfortable with knife work or willing to learn
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, attention to detail
- Flexible availability including weekends and holidays; early morning shifts required
- Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
