Job Summary
The Toto Café is more than just a place to eat; it’s where good food and good people come together. We’re looking for dependable and motivated individuals to join our kitchen team as Line Cook. This role is hands-on and essential to keeping our kitchen running smoothly, from preparing fresh ingredients to cooking meals that make our guests feel welcome.
Responsibilities
Cooking & Food Preparation
- Prepare menu items accurately and consistently, following recipes and presentation standards.
- Execute food prep such as chopping vegetables, portioning meats, and preparing soups.
- Assist with batch cooking and prepping items ahead of service to ensure efficiency during peak hours.
- Monitor cooking times and temperatures to guarantee food safety and quality.
Kitchen Operations & Cleanliness
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized work area at all times.
- Properly label, date, and store food items to ensure freshness and rotation.
- Set up and break down stations before and after service.
- Assist with dishwashing, cleaning kitchen equipment, and restocking supplies as needed.
Teamwork & Communication
- Work closely with other cooks and staff to ensure timely service.
- Communicate clearly with the kitchen team about ticket times, special requests, and food shortages.
- Support other areas of the kitchen as needed, jumping in where the team requires help.
Quality & Standards
- Follow established food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures.
- Take pride in consistency and presentation of every dish.
- Monitor portion control to reduce waste and manage food costs.
Other duties as required.
Requirements
- Previous kitchen experience preferred but not required, we’re willing to train the right person.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
