Plant General Manager – High-Tech Manufacturing | Smyrna, TN (ON-SITE)
A global advanced manufacturing firm is seeking a Plant General Manager to lead operations at a brand-new, state-of-the-art battery production facility. This executive role will oversee all aspects of plant operations—from production and process management to safety, HR, and equipment maintenance—ensuring the successful launch, ramp-up, and sustained performance of a high-output, highly automated facility.
This position will lead a workforce of ~1000 employees.. The ideal candidate is a hands-on manufacturing leader with deep experience in automated production environments such as batteries, semiconductors, OEM parts, or electronics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee full plant operations, including production, maintenance, engineering, HSE, HR, supply chain, and quality assurance.
- Serve as a hands-on operational leader, ensuring optimal output, efficiency, and adherence to safety and compliance standards.
- Drive startup readiness and early-stage production planning in coordination with global leadership.
- Develop organizational structure, team capability, and production workflows to support ramp-up and long-term growth.
- Collaborate cross-functionally across engineering, R&D, and corporate leadership to align with strategic goals.
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on operational excellence, continuous improvement, and workforce engagement.
- Ensure regulatory and environmental compliance across all plant functions.
Qualifications:
- 10 years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience, with recent responsibility over full-site operations.
- Deep expertise in highly automated, technical manufacturing environments such as batteries, EV components, semiconductors, or precision electronics.
- Proven success in startup environments or new facility commissioning is strongly preferred.
- Strong floor presence and ability to lead both strategic planning and hands-on operational execution.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Fluency in Mandarin Chinese is a significant advantage but not required.
- Strong cross-cultural leadership and communication skills.
