What You'll Do
- Monitor and analyze physical and financial power market risk exposures
- Review and validate VaR, stress testing, and risk measurement methodologies
- Assess trader positions, market conditions, and portfolio risks
- Partner with trading teams to understand strategies and risk drivers
- Monitor compliance with risk limits and controls
- Evaluate option exposures and complex power trading strategies
- Review new products and recommend appropriate risk frameworks
- Support valuation reviews and structured transaction analysis
- Collaborate with technology teams to enhance risk systems, models, and reporting tools
- Present risk observations and recommendations to management
- Market risk experience within energy commodities
- Strong understanding of North American physical power markets
- Experience supporting trading activity in markets such as PJM, ERCOT, and/or CAISO
- Knowledge of derivatives, options, and risk analytics
- Ability to communicate effectively with traders and senior stakeholders
- Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities
- Power and natural gas market knowledge
- Python, SQL, R, VBA, or other analytical programming skills
- Experience with VaR, stress testing, and trading risk frameworks
- Proven track record of internal advancement into commercial and origination roles
