Job Position: LA DOTD Certified Inspector

Responsibilities:
- Serve as a primary inspector for phase or phases of construction in areas of specialization/certification
- Determine sample requirements for the area(s) of expertise
- Verify elevations/alignments of construction work
- Prepare work reports, estimate quantities, and/or calculations
- Use knowledge of LA DOTD procedures, policies, standards, and specifications as they relate to the processing of construction-related documents such as partial and final estimates
- Assist higher-level technicians and Project Engineers with daily inspection requirements
- Check technician computations
- Enter data into project specific software common to LA DOTD projects
- Assist with preparation of routine sampling plans and construction documentation
- Evaluate, document and prepare final construction project close-out documentation
- Compile data and assist with documentation for the project's stormwater pollution prevention plan
Required Experience
- High School Education
- 2 years' experience with a construction inspection background is preferred
- Strong consultative, organizational, interpersonal and communication (verbal & written) skills
- Ability to read engineering drawings is preferred
- Successful candidates will be high energy, a strong decision-maker, and have the interpersonal skills necessary to complete the job ensuring construction is completed accurately per client's specs, and in a timely manner
Qualifications:
- Must have at least one current LA DOTD certification and ability to obtain others within six months
- Ability to adhere to safety requirements
- Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds and the ability to work at elevated heights
- Ability to work in hot, cold, or inclement weather conditions
- Ability to travel with some overnight travel
- Ability to work overtime or nights as needed
- Ability to interface with clients and contractor personnel
- Must have valid driver's license and clean driving record
