We are expanding our footprint in cancer care with a dedicated cancer center that includes a Varian linear accelerator for radiation therapy and an on-site infusion center.

We are seeking a Radiation Oncology & Cancer Center Program Administrator to help build and lead this program from the ground up, working closely with our executive team and a dedicated radiation oncology consultant.

Position Summary

The Radiation Oncology & Cancer Center Program Administrator will be the point person for planning, launching, and managing daily operations of Riceland’s cancer center. This role will coordinate across HR, Marketing, Medical Staff leadership, Operations, and referral sources to ensure the program grows in a deliberate, high-quality, and patient-centered way.

This is a hands-on management role, ideal for someone who enjoys building programs, aligning physicians and staff, and turning strategy into day-to-day execution.

Key Responsibilities

Program Development & Launch

- Lead the operational build-out of the radiation oncology program and associated cancer center services in coordination with senior leadership and our external consultant.

- Develop and implement policies, workflows, and procedures for scheduling, patient flow, documentation, and coordination with other Riceland services (imaging, surgery, clinics, home health, hospice, etc.).

- Work with leadership to support accreditation, regulatory, and payer requirements related to radiation oncology and cancer center operations.

Operations & Facility Management

- Oversee daily operations of the cancer center, including front office, patient access, and coordination with clinical teams (radiation oncology, infusion, and support staff).

- Partner with HR to recruit, onboard, and support key personnel (e.g., therapists, nurses, front desk, support staff) as the program grows.

- Monitor staffing levels and schedules to support timely consults and efficient use of the Varian linear accelerator.

- Ensure the facility is maintained in a safe, orderly, survey-ready condition at all times.

Coordination with Leadership & Departments

- Serve as the primary administrative contact for the cancer center with Riceland’s executive team, Chiefs, and service line leaders.

- Collaborate with Finance on budgeting, volume forecasts, and monitoring of key financial and operational metrics.

- Coordinate with IT, compliance, and quality departments to support documentation, reporting, and regulatory requirements.

Referral Development & External Relationships

- Work with Marketing and Physician Relations to support and strengthen referral relationships with medical oncologists, urologists, surgeons, and primary care providers across Southeast Texas.

- Help organize outreach activities, educational sessions, and communications that explain the cancer center’s services and referral processes.

- Support a positive working relationship with external partners and community organizations involved in cancer care and prevention.

Quality, Safety & Patient Experience

- Support development and tracking of quality indicators, patient satisfaction measures, and performance improvement efforts.

- Help ensure that patient experience at the cancer center is consistent with Riceland’s standards of compassionate, coordinated care.

- Participate in or help organize multidisciplinary meetings and case discussions as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

- Minimum 5 years of experience in healthcare operations or practice management (ambulatory, hospital outpatient, imaging, oncology, or similar).

- Demonstrated experience managing staff, workflows, and day-to-day operations in a clinical setting.

- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

- Excellent communication skills and comfort working with physicians, executives, frontline staff, and community partners.
