Key Responsibilities
- Supervise laboratory personnel and coordinate day-to-day molecular testing activities
- Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory/accreditation standards
- Oversee molecular testing workflows, validation studies, and quality control procedures
- Review and approve test results, quality metrics, and laboratory reports
- Train, mentor, and evaluate staff for competency and performance
- Optimize workflow, scheduling, and resource allocation
- Troubleshoot technical or operational issues affecting accuracy or turnaround time
- Develop, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Participate in inspections, audits, and corrective action processes
- Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and documentation of laboratory instruments
- Support quality assurance, safety compliance, and process improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Molecular Biology, or related field
- ASCP certification (MB or MLS preferred)
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a molecular diagnostics laboratory
- Previous supervisory or lead experience is strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and QA/QC requirements
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and leadership skills
