Identifies, promotes and maintains the health of the public by providing direct nursing care and health education in office, home, or community settings. Serves a culturally diverse population. |
- Provide nursing intake, assist with processing referrals, facilitate referrals to community resources, and coordinate care.
- Provide immunizations to both adults and children in office and community locations.
- Assist Public Health Nursing Supervisor with vaccine program management.
- Coordinate and participate in community immunization clinics.
- Provide and coordinate refugee health services.
- Provide nursing care and health education to in office or home settings.
- Provide Mantoux testing, tuberculosis case management, and disease investigation and control follow-up.
- Perform other duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires current Minnesota licensure as a Registered Nurse, and one to three years of nursing experience. A driver’s license is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a State approved and nationally accredited nursing program is preferred, as is certification, or eligibility for certification, as a Public Health Nurse in Minnesota. Consideration will be provided for candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bilingual (English/Spanish and/or English/Somali).

HOURS: Regular, part-time or full-time, benefit eligible position. 32 - 40 hours per week (position to be appointed at .8 or 1.0 FTE). Typical work hours between 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Occasional planned evening or weekend hours for community outreach events. Occasional evening or weekend hours for community outreach events. Very limited weekend/holiday coverage for homecare visit coverage.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: MNA Union – Grade 12
**Bargaining unit members holding a Public Health Nurse certification shall be paid two dollars ($4.00) per hour in addition to the wage on the salary schedule of the CBA for all hours worked, ending on December 31, 2027.
