This is an in-person, on-site position located in Rice County, MN.
The Highway Graduate Engineer performs civil engineering work in the surveying, design and construction of County road and bridge projects. This position assists with all phases of a construction project including planning, design and construction. This position provides guidance and support to the Engineering Technicians for road and bridge surveying, design and construction services. This position assists with overseeing and supervising the preparation of plans and specifications by others for construction and design projects. This position will assist the Highway Design/Construction Engineer and Assistant County Engineer with the preparation of plans, specifications, and construction oversight of a wide array of highway projects.•Manages and develops construction plans and contract documents.
•Assists with the management of the annual construction program.
•Assists with planning and managing development impacts to the County highway system and future growth needs.
•Responds to citizen groups and individuals to answer questions and resolve complaints.
•Prepares and maintains reports and documents such as updating the webpage, developing bridge priority lists, annual construction maps, infrastructure reports, pavement preservation estimates and weight restrictions maps.
•Performs other duties as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or the ability to obtain within six months of hire.
Additional preferred qualifications include (KSAs) experience in surveying, design of construction projects and construction inspection, knowledge of construction equipment, materials testing, CAD, strong oral, written communication skills, ability to problem solve and project management skills.
Hours: Normal business hours Monday – Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Full-time (40 hours per week)
