REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Diploma required. Some related Continuing Education Credits are preferred.
Experience: 1 -3 years working within operations or purchasing/production planning department of a manufacturing company. Basic command of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook. Should have some knowledge of manufacturing planning, bills of material, inventory control, and basic business functions.
Physical Requirements: This position requires a person to be able to speak, write and conduct business in English. This person shall also have sufficient eyesight to read business documents and properly fill out appropriate Quality System Records and Forms. Light lifting may be required at times.
Mental Requirements: This position should be able to understand and then follow written and verbal work instructions and quality system procedures without direct and constant supervision after the initial training period is successfully completed and documented. This position should have sufficient mental capacity to accommodate and successfully implement changes in work tasks and quality system changes when required.
Working Conditions: Will generally be working in the office area of RICCA CHEMICAL COMPANY with heat and air-conditioning provided. May work at times in the production and distribution areas of the facility. At times there may be limited contact with hazardous chemicals. When working in these areas, all necessary safety precautions must be followed and appropriate safety equipment worn.
TASKS AND DUTIES
- Act responsibly at all times to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of self, co-workers, visitors, neighbors, and property. This includes compliance with all RCC safety policies and procedures, and a working knowledge of government regulations, particularly hazardous material regulations.
- Helps prepare and execute production schedules in a timely manner to meet customer demand and delivery goals. This will be done by reviewing and acting on order release, order action, and exception messages from the ERP system and other sources.
- Creates and maintains accurate records within ERP, and subsequently the MRP module, to allow data to flow through efficiently.
- Demonstrates the use of information gathering techniques, analyzes situations, and identifies implications in order to make correct decisions.
- Helps with the production planning process on site. Releases orders to manufacturing.
- Communicates with production and all other functions to ensure plans are developed to meet all customer commitments.
- Helps conduct daily reviews of shortages and expedites reports to maintain inventory levels.
- Helps expedite production orders that are needed in less than the normal lead time to improve the shortfall between the current plan and the requirements to meet or exceed the customer expectations.
- Helps assess any resource restrictions and makes recommendations on how to remove such restrictions. Assists with process improvement opportunities.
- Helps manage finished goods inventory levels by monitoring and reviewing key production planning inputs.
- Helps determine planning methodology and scheduling techniques applied to individual finished goods.
- Helps calculate key inventory performance metrics such as turnover ratios, days of inventory on hand, labor productivity (including efficiency and utilization), and inventory valuations.
- Helps manage surplus and obsolete inventories.
- Performs clerical tasks for planning department, such as, filing, printing records, making labels, and sheet checking.
- Maintains MRO and inventory items supplies needed within planning department.
- Assumes Production Planner duties when needed.
- Actively seeks and attends training related to duties and role within RICCA CHEMICAL COMPANY.
- Other duties as assigned.
