What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Operator/Pipe Layer position at Rhoades Construction?
Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, skid steers, dozers and various others
- Install water, sanitary and storm sewer structures and pipe systems·
- Lay out pipe routes, following specifications or blueprints, and coordinating layouts with supervisor·
- Cut pipes to required lengths·
- Connect pipe pieces and seal joints, using mechanical connections and fittings as required
- Occasionally provide direction to laborers and trucks on site
- Various labor duties on job sites
- Required to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- Perform daily pre and post trip inspections
- Fuel and grease equipment daily
- Comply with all company health and safety guidelines
- Responsible to provide own personal protective equipment
- Other duties will be assigned as required
Skills
- 3-5 years of previous heavy equipment operating experience and pipelaying required
- Previous experience in the excavating industry is a must
- Working knowledge and understanding of reading drawings, reading locates and setting grades
- Must be safety conscious
- Excellent team player
- Great communication skills
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions
- Must have a valid drivers license with a clean driving record
- Must be punctual and personable
- Must be willing to travel to Salida and Canon City.
Wage
Starting $20/ Hr depending on experience
