Art Teacher (Part-Time)

About the Position
We are looking for an enthusiastic Art teacher to foster and facilitate the intellectual, creative, and spiritual
development of our students. This is a part-time salaried position, three and a half days per week (Tuesday
through Thursday, plus Friday mornings), teaching art to students in Kindergarten through 8th grade in a
dedicated art room. The schedule includes grade-level art classes for Kindergarten through 4th grade, combined
5th/6th and 7th/8th grade classes, a middle school art elective, lunch duty, and built-in planning periods.
Our teacher will implement lessons and teach children with patience, creativity, and the love of God, will
demonstrate a mature and vibrant relationship with God, and will be dedicated to the philosophy of Christian
education.
Qualifications:
• A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, and a life that reflects strong Christian character and
biblical values
• Experience teaching art to elementary and/or middle school students preferred
• Ability to plan and teach age-appropriate art instruction across a wide range of ages (Kindergarten through
8th grade), including combined-grade middle school classes
• Superior communication and people skills
• Personality traits that allow for a positive relational connection with children, parents, and staff
• Organizational skills and flexibility, with the ability to handle change and multiple taskings
• Passion for Christian education and the ability to inspire students of all ages
• Whole-hearted agreement with the school's Tenets of Faith and Christian Philosophy of Education
• Desire to work in the context of a Christian professional learning community
• Proficiency with (or willingness to be trained in) classroom technology including Smart Board, Google
Classroom, FACTS, and Curriculum Trak
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
Responsibilities:
• Serve as the art instructor for Kindergarten through 8th grade, three and a half days per week
• Teach a variety of media and foundational art concepts appropriate to each grade level, integrating a biblical
worldview that reflects creativity as part of God's design
• Design engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans tied to student outcomes
• Teach a middle school art elective in addition to regular grade-level art classes
• Serve a scheduled lunch duty on teaching days
• Attend weekly chapel with students
• Maintain a safe, orderly, and creative art room, including care of art supplies and materials
• Display student artwork throughout the school and coordinate student art for school events and showcases
• Assess student progress, maintain accurate grades and records, and provide timely feedback to students and
parents
• Supervise a weekly study hall and assist with additional school responsibilities as assigned
• Build fruitful and mentoring relationships with students, parents, and staff
• Serve as a member of a professional learning community
• Maintain a professional appearance as an example to students
• Maintain rules of conduct which encourage self-discipline and responsibility
• Respect and maintain the confidentiality of students, staff, and personal communications at all times
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree required; Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field preferred
• Teaching certification (PA or ACSI) preferred; willingness to pursue ACSI certification required
• Active involvement in a local church
• Act 34, Act 151, and Act 114 clearances, and PA Act 168 disclosure forms upon hire
• A letter of reference from your pastor is to be submitted along with your resume
Compensation:
$19,000 annual salary (part-time, salaried). Includes 5 PTO days per school year and a 50% tuition discount for
dependents of part-time staff.
