What are the responsibilities and job description for the Art Teacher position at Children's Art Classes - Chapel Hill NC?
Children's Art Classes opened our studio in Chapel Hill in January 2026! We are currently accepting applications for a Thursday afternoon/evening teaching position during the 2026-2027 school year. We also are looking for substitute art teachers and teachers with Saturday availability from 9:30-2:30pm . We are looking for a certified art teacher, with a minimum of 5 years teaching experience specifically teaching art. The qualifications for this position include the following:
- Organizational skills
- Strong communication skills, including electronically with owner and other teachers
- Ability to implement a set curriculum
- Classroom management skills
- Experience teaching in a visual art setting
- Skills across multiple visual art media
Classes will be located in our Timberlyne studio in North Chapel Hill. We are looking for a teacher with availability from 3:00-8:00pm on Thursdays starting in the fall of 2026, substitute teachers, and a teacher with availability Saturday 9:30am-2:30pm. On Thursday you would need to get there by 3pm to prep for a 3:30 class, and your last class would finish at 7:45pm. We may also have summer opportunities available this summer and workshop opportunities during the school year. We also are looking for substitute art teachers and teachers with Saturday availability. On Saturdays there would be an opportunity to assist with prep for the upcoming week. These positions are part time, 6-10 hours per week depending on enrollment. The position offers $25-$35 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. A background check is required and you will receive a W-2.
The school will have small class sizes limited to 12 students per class. There are two classrooms, and the environment will be used by other classes and teachers during the week.
