Director of Nursing – Assisted Living Program (Confidential Search)
A well-established, high-quality assisted living organization is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to oversee clinical operations across multiple Adult Care and Assisted Living programs. This is a key leadership opportunity for a hands-on, resident-focused nursing professional who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
Overview:
The Director of Nursing will lead all health and wellness services within the Assisted Living and Enriched Housing programs, ensuring compliance with NYS Department of Health regulations while promoting a culture of excellence, dignity, and compassion in care delivery. This role requires strong operational insight, team-building skills, and a proactive approach to clinical leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct all nursing and health-related services across Assisted Living and Adult Care programs.
- Ensure full regulatory compliance and maintain high standards of clinical quality.
- Oversee development and review of individualized service plans (ISPs).
- Supervise and mentor nursing staff and home health aides.
- Conduct initial and ongoing resident assessments and ensure accurate documentation.
- Collaborate with case managers, administrators, residents, families, and care teams.
- Lead quality assurance initiatives and support continuous improvement efforts.
- Provide emergency oversight and clinical support as needed.
Qualifications:
- Current New York State RN license (required)
- Bachelor’s in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- 5–7 years of nursing experience in assisted living or long-term care, including 4 years in leadership
- Strong understanding of NYS Assisted Living and Adult Care regulations
- Proven leadership and communication skills with a hands-on management style
- Proficiency in EHR systems and Microsoft Office
Compensation & Schedule:
- Salary: $150,000 (DOE)

- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM (leadership flexibility required; occasional weekend or evening presence expected)
