Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks with manual transmission, including tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and other specialized vehicles.
- Load and unload freight efficiently using appropriate equipment such as forklifts when necessary.
- Drive assigned routes confidently, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations while maintaining punctual delivery schedules.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with DOT standards.
- Manage freight securely during transit, ensuring proper load securing techniques for various cargo types.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage logs, inspection reports, and route documentation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate delivery times and resolve any issues promptly.
Experience
- Proven experience as a commercial driver with a valid CDL license, preferably with experience driving refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or specialized trucks such as dump or roll-off trucks.
- Demonstrated ability to operate manual transmission trucks safely and efficiently.
- Prior delivery driver experience involving route driving and load & unload responsibilities.
- Familiarity with freight handling equipment like forklifts is a plus.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to trucking operations and cargo securement standards.
- Strong understanding of traffic laws, DOT regulations, and hours-of-service requirements for commercial drivers.
