Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Day Program Support Specialist (DSP) to join our amazing team! This role is essential in providing support and guidance to individuals in need of care, particularly adults dealing with developmental disorders and other health challenges. The Day Program Support Specialist will work closely with clients, families, healthcare professionals and local county agencies to develop and implement effective care plans that respect resident rights and promote overall well-being.
Duties
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualized care plans tailored to each client's unique needs.
- Provide direct support in day program facility settings, ensuring that clients
- receive the necessary care and attention.
- Monitor vital signs and report any changes in clients' health status to
- nursing staff or appropriate healthcare providers.
- Facilitate activities that enhance the quality of life for clients, including social
- engagement and cognitive stimulation.
- Educate clients and families about care strategies and available resources.
- Uphold resident rights by advocating for their needs and preferences within the care environment.
- Collaborate with guardians, social workers, nurses, and other healthcare
- professionals to ensure comprehensive care delivery.
- Prepare meals as needed, adhering to dietary restrictions and preferences of residents.
Skills
- Strong background in assisting individuals with various health needs,
- particularly in home health or day habilitation settings.
- Knowledge of developmental disability care practices and the ability to implement effective strategies.
- Familiarity with resident rights and advocacy principles.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Ability to monitor vital signs accurately and respond appropriately to changes in client conditions.
- Experience in daycare, education, social work a plus.
- Compassionate approach towards caregiving with a focus on enhancing client quality of life.
- Basic cooking and prepping skills to prepare nutritious meals for residents.
