Porter

A Porter may support community centers and common areas across multiple communities while being responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the community center. This role focuses primarily on interior cleaning and trash removal, with additional support for grounds upkeep as time and priorities allow. A Porter may be assigned to work at various Reybold community locations as needed. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

          Cleaning & Sanitation

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, common areas, hallways, meeting rooms, and event spaces on a daily basis
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors and surfaces throughout the facility
• Wipe down tables, chairs, and shared equipment after events or programs
• Restock supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, soap, and hand sanitizer
• Spot-clean spills, stains, and messes as they occur
• Report maintenance issues, damage, or safety hazards to supervisor

Trash & Waste Management

• Collect trash and recycling from all interior receptacles on a regular schedule
• Transport waste to outdoor dumpsters/collection areas
• Replace liners in all trash and recycling bins
• Break down cardboard and manage recycling separation as required
• Keep dumpster and waste collection areas tidy

Grounds Support (as time permits)

• Pick up litter and debris from parking lots, walkways, and outdoor common areas
• Assist with basic landscaping tasks (raking leaves, sweeping walkways, minor weeding)
• Empty outdoor trash and recycling receptacles
• Help with snow/ice removal from entrances and walkways as needed (seasonal)
• Assist with setup/breakdown of outdoor furniture or event materials

General

• Ensure entrances, lobbies, and public spaces are presentable at all times
• Follow safety protocols when using cleaning chemicals and equipment
• Travel between Reybold community locations as assigned
• Perform other custodial or light maintenance duties as assigned. 

Education and/or Experience Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Prior custodial, janitorial, or maintenance experience a plus
• Ability to lift up to [10–20] lbs and perform physical tasks including bending, standing, and walking for extended periods

Competencies 

• Reliable, punctual, and able to work with minimal supervision
• Basic understanding of cleaning products and safe handling practices

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift throughout the shift
• Ability to work outdoors in seasonal weather when assisting with grounds tasks

Work Environment

A Porter is required to work in both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
