Senior Mechanical Engineer Lead – Direct Hire

Overview:
Seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer Lead to work on advanced facilities projects supporting industrial and commercial clients. This position involves leading and supporting multidisciplinary teams to deliver designs for building HVAC, utilities, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
Responsibilities:
- Lead mechanical design for HVAC, utility, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Oversee budget, schedule, and technical quality of assigned projects.
- Coordinate and collaborate with architectural, electrical, structural, and project management teams.
- Prepare and review engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and reports.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
- Support construction, startup, and commissioning activities as required.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, standards, and client requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 15 years of mechanical engineering and design experience (HVAC, utilities, fire protection, plumbing)
- Minimum 5 years in Life Sciences consulting engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
- Proven ability to lead medium to large, multinational teams
- Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Revit or SmartPlant (preferred)
- Industrial design experience including pharmaceutical or semiconductor facilities
- Project management experience a plus
Schedule:
Hybrid position based out of Cary, NC office, with most work performed remotely and approximately 2 days per week on-site as needed.
