Sr. Cloud Developer – Java / AWS | No Sponsored Candidates | EST – SC

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Lead Developer to lead the design, development, modernization, and deployment of enterprise cloud applications. This position combines hands-on Java full-stack development, cloud engineering, application modernization, DevSecOps, security, and technical leadership.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java/Java EE, Spring Framework, JPA, JavaScript frameworks, AWS or Azure, cloud migration, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and secure cloud application development. Experience supporting Medicare or healthcare environments is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, testing, integration, and deployment of enterprise cloud-native and cloud-modernized applications.
- Develop full-stack applications within Java/Java EE ecosystems, leveraging Spring Framework, JPA, and modern JavaScript frameworks.
- Support lift-and-shift, re-platforming, and application modernization initiatives within AWS or Azure.
- Partner with cloud architects to design resilient, highly available, scalable, and fault-tolerant solutions aligned with cloud Well-Architected principles.
- Design and integrate APIs and cloud services while providing technical guidance on complex application and infrastructure decisions.
- Implement secure application architectures incorporating mTLS, certificate lifecycle management, identity management, IAM, and cloud security best practices.
- Develop and support solutions utilizing AWS services including EC2, Lambda, RDS, Aurora, S3, VPC, IAM, EKS/ECS, DynamoDB, API Gateway, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and Secrets Manager.
- Implement observability, logging, monitoring, and application tracking using Splunk, CloudWatch, and AWS X-Ray.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM Templates, or comparable Infrastructure as Code technologies.
- Build and maintain CI/CD and DevSecOps pipelines using technologies such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, Azure DevOps, Selenium, SonarQube, and Snyk.
- Incorporate applicable NIST 800-53 and FedRAMP security and compliance requirements into cloud development practices.
- Support accessibility requirements, including Section 508 remediation and WCAG standards.
- Review code and deployments, establish development standards, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and support production stability.
- Mentor developers and collaborate across application development, architecture, infrastructure, security, testing, and business teams.
- Participate in Agile delivery and support project timelines, including occasional overtime when necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or another job-related discipline.
- 8 years of experience in application development, systems testing, or a related IT discipline.
- Strong full-stack software engineering experience with Java/Java EE, Spring Framework, JPA, and JavaScript frameworks.
- Professional experience within an Agile and Medicare environment.
- Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure, including application migration, lift-and-shift, re-platforming, or cloud modernization.
- Experience designing high-availability and fault-tolerant cloud applications.
- Hands-on experience with mTLS, certificate lifecycle management, identity, and application security.
- Experience with major AWS services and cloud-native application development.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, DevSecOps, monitoring, and observability.
- Knowledge of NIST 800-53 and FedRAMP security/compliance frameworks.
- Familiarity with Section 508 and WCAG accessibility standards.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide technical leadership and work effectively with architects, developers, security teams, and business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with serverless architectures, cloud-native security practices, and containerization/orchestration technologies such as Docker, Amazon ECS/Fargate, EKS, or Kubernetes is highly desirable. Cloud certifications and experience with regulated environments, including HIPAA and FedRAMP, are also preferred.
Work Environment & Schedule
Standard hours are 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, with possible overtime when required to meet project timelines.
