Job Summary

The Head of Small Balance Commercial will own and lead Revere Capital's Small Balance CRE lending strategy within the firm's broader real estate debt fund. Focused on bridge loans sub-$5 million, this individual will be responsible for defining the strategic direction of the vertical, building out origination capabilities, and driving execution from sourcing through closing. This is a leadership role with significant autonomy; the right candidate will shape how Revere competes and scales in the small balance market, deepening broker and borrower relationships while maintaining the underwriting discipline and credit quality the firm is known for.


Key Responsibilities

  • Define and lead Revere's Small Balance CRE lending strategy, including target markets, property types, loan parameters, and competitive positioning within the debt fund.
  • Build and manage an origination pipeline of sub-$5M bridge loans, with a focus on value-add multifamily and other qualifying CRE property types in primary and secondary markets.
  • Develop and maintain a network of mortgage brokers, correspondent lenders, and direct borrower relationships to drive consistent deal flow.
  • Oversee the underwriting and credit approval process for small balance loans, ensuring alignment with fund guidelines on LTV, debt yield, property type, and market focus.
  • Partner with legal, asset management, and operations teams to ensure efficient execution from term sheet through closing and into portfolio management.
  • Establish scalable processes, documentation standards, and workflow systems suited to the higher transaction volume of the small balance segment.
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert on the small balance market, tracking competitor pricing, market trends, and borrower demand to inform strategy.
  • Contribute to investor reporting and marketing materials as needed, representing the small balance strategy to fund investors and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and the investment committee on portfolio construction, concentration limits, and risk management at the strategy level.


Preferred Qualifications

  • 7 years of experience in commercial real estate lending, with direct experience originating or managing small balance CRE loans (sub-$5M).
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead a lending vertical or team, with a track record of growing origination volume and maintaining credit quality.
  • Strong existing broker and borrower network in the small balance CRE space.
  • Deep understanding of transitional bridge lending, including value-add business plans, renovation draws, lease-up scenarios, and exit underwriting.
  • Comfortable operating at both the strategic and transactional level, with the ability to set direction and close deals.
  • Experience developing operational infrastructure for high-volume loan origination, including process design and technology utilization.
  • Strong financial, analytical, and credit skills with the ability to underwrite across multifamily and mixed-use property types.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with high attention to detail and a bias for execution.
