Position Summary:
We’re seeking a pastry cook (commis) to join our team. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone with a solid baking foundation who’s ready to deepen their skills in a professional, detail-driven environment. You’ll work closely with Chef Cate, our pastry chef, to craft plated desserts and assist with preparing pastry elements, as well as the rest of the team to work through a smooth service on the line.
Responsibilities:
- Follow precise recipes to create consistent, high-quality pastries and plated desserts.
- Set up and maintain a clean, well-organized pastry station.
- Operate professional kitchen equipment including stand mixers, scales, and ovens.
- Receive and execute direction from the pastry chef with focus and reliability.
- Support daily production of final products in a timely manner according to the pacing of the menu.
Requirements:
- Basic baking and kitchen knowledge (including reading recipes, measuring ingredients, and safe use of standard equipment).
- Willingness to learn, take feedback, and uphold fine dining standards.
- A strong eye for detail and consistency.
Preferred But Not Required:
- Knife skills or previous pastry/kitchen experience.
- Understanding of French pastry styles or plated dessert presentation.
