Job Summary:
Reporting to the VP Finance, the M&A Manager is responsible for managing REV’s Corporate Development functions. You have a deep understanding of power markets as well as asset and portfolio/corporate M&A. The ideal candidate excels in a fast-paced, start-up culture where ‘no job is too small,’ possesses strong technical finance skills and relishes strategic thinking, mentoring employees, and tactical execution.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Partner with senior executives to identify acquisition and divestiture opportunities that meet REV’s strategic objectives, which may include asset or corporate-level operating or development transactions across a variety of markets and technologies
- Attend industry conferences, develop relationships with industry participants, research markets and monitor competitors to identify M&A prospects that represent a good fit for REV
- Evaluate and screen acquisition candidates, build financial models to support valuation, conduct supporting analyses and solicit input from other functional groups (e.g. Development, Energy management, Strategy, Asset Management) in evaluating targets
- Participate in development of commercial and strategic thesis to support investment decisions, including analysis of market trends and design, power market fundamentals, policy and regulatory frameworks, and competitive dynamics
- Lead due diligence and integration efforts for acquisitions, including coordinating cross-functional teams during evaluation process
- Manage divestiture processes, including preparation of marketing materials, outreach to potential buyers, coordination with third-party advisors, and development of valuation and briefing materials for senior management and the Board of Directors
- Negotiate purchase price and deal terms, help develop integration plans and establish key benchmarks for post-close planning
- Serve as a mentor to junior team members
- Assist with finance-related special projects and strategic initiatives, as they arise
Required Education/Skills/Knowledge:
- 5 years of experience in investment banking, private equity or corporate development with an energy/power focus
- Experience driving M&A deals from sourcing through integration is a plus; ability to manage multiple processes in a dynamic, fast-paced environment is a must
- Strong analytical and technical/modeling skills with a firm grasp of power asset modeling and wholesale markets as well as exposure to renewable energy project development
- Self-motivated, hands-on professional who can work in a fast-paced, lean environment and enjoys having accountability and ownership of key strategic business outcomes
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative attitude - a team-oriented player who enjoys working cross-functionally and across levels within a company will do well
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Must be able to sit/stand at a desk, using a computer workstation.
- The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach with hands and arms, walk; lift push or pull objects up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to handle long periods of screen time and typing.
- Must be able to have effective time management skills, with the ability to concentrate for long periods of time.
