Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated, motivated, and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician/Front Desk Receptionist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting ophthalmologists in providing high-quality eye care and Front desk support as needed. We’re looking for someone who feels comfortable in a medical office/clinic setting, has a good understanding of anatomy and ophthalmology, and enjoys communicating clearly to help create a positive experience for every patient. This position is Full Time and an in person position . Experience in ophthalmology and/or front desk operations is highly desirable but not required, we are willing to train the right motivated candidate.
We do travel 5 days out of the month to satellite locations in Hazleton and Honesdale.
Responsibilities
- Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures by preparing the necessary instruments and equipment.
- Perform preliminary diagnostic tests, including visual acuity tests, tonometry, and retinal imaging.
- Record patient medical histories and vital signs accurately in the electronic health record system.
- Educate patients on eye care procedures and follow-up instructions.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Greet and welcome visitors in a friendly professional ensuring a positive impression.
- Manage incoming calls, directing them to the appropriate personnel.
- Perform data entry tasks accurately and efficiently, maintain an organized work space, assist in scheduling patient appointments, insurance verifications, referrals, filing, faxing, etc.
- Support all aspects of practice as assigned.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a medical office/clinic setting is preferred but not required; We will train the right motivated candidate.
- Knowledge of anatomy related to the eye and common ophthalmic conditions preferred.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Basic understanding of insurances and front desk operations a plus!
- Experience or training in ophthalmology is highly desirable.
- Basic understanding of medical billing and coding practices is a plus!
- Ability to perform aseptic techniques during procedures.
- Experience with electronic health record systems such as Epic, Nex Tech, etc. is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Bilingual not required, but a plus!
