Job Overview

The Financial Counselor plays a pivotal role in streamlining patient billing and account management to ensure precise and timely financial operations. In this part-time capacity, you will serve as the primary liaison for patients regarding their account status, flexible payment options, and insurance inquiries.

This role demands exceptional attention to detail to verify patient data, process transactions, and resolve discrepancies with high efficiency. By maintaining clear, empathetic communication, the Financial Counselor enhances the overall patient experience while driving the healthcare provider’s revenue cycle success. Ultimately, this position ensures the seamless operation of financial services and strengthens the trust between patients and the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience: Prior experience in customer service or a financial/patient accounts role, preferably within a healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge: Foundational understanding of medical billing practices and insurance terminology.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in data entry and navigating complex computer systems/electronic health records (EHR).
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Advocacy: Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries regarding account balances, billing statements, and customized payment plans.
  • Insurance Verification: Confirm patient insurance coverage and eligibility to facilitate accurate billing and reduce the likelihood of claim denials.
  • Financial Processing: Accurately manage payments, account adjustments, and refunds within the financial system.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with billing, insurance, and collections departments to resolve complex account discrepancies.
  • Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of all patient interactions and account updates in strict accordance with privacy regulations and HIPAA standards.

Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour
