About the Role Total Wine & More is seeking an Assistant Buyer, Spirits, to join our Merchandising team onsite in our Bethesda, MD office. In this role, you will support the Spirits Sourcing team with item management, supplier onboarding, compliance coordination, and reporting. You will also independently manage a select group of small suppliers, gaining hands-on experience in product lifecycle execution and supplier relationship management. This is a great opportunity to build foundational buying skills in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You will report to the Director, Spirits. You will Manage new item set-up and maintenance, ensuring all product data is accurately entered, up to date, and compliant with internal standards and external regulations Manage assigned supplier relationships, supporting new item introductions, compliance follow-up, and execution of promotional plans Maintain item data integrity in merchandising systems, including cost updates, assortment changes, and product status Maintain organized records and electronic files, ensuring accuracy in shared tools, trackers, and communication materials Prepare weekly reporting and analysis to support the Spirits team, summarizing in-stock status, item performance, and new item launches Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including Market Management, Supply Chain and Marketing, to support execution of launches, events, and product initiatives Support meeting preparation, including maintaining agendas, collecting content, and ensuring materials are delivered on time Contribute to departmental communications such as newsletters, brand story development, and internal updates Monitor category and supplier performance by analyzing sales, margin, and customer trends, recommending assortment adjustments and product assortment opportunities. Research consumer trends, market activity, and competitor assortments to identify growth opportunities Manage store new item requests to help support locally relevant initiatives Support the execution of category strategies and seasonal programs, ensuring alignment across stakeholders You will come with High School Diploma or equivalent required Bachelor's Degree Business, Merchandising, or related field preferred Less than 1 year experience in retail, buying, or administrative support; experience in alcoholic beverages or CPG preferred Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
