Position Overview
RestoreFast is a national leader in remediation, demolition, restoration, and reconstruction services. We engage experienced ACM Abatement Workers on a 1099 independent contractor basis to support field crews executing asbestos removal and hazardous material abatement scopes on active federal military housing and commercial project sites. Contractors set their own means and methods within the scope of work, maintain their own certifications, and are engaged on a per-project basis.
Independent Contractor Notice
This is a 1099 independent contractor engagement. You are not an employee of RestoreFast. As a contractor, you are responsible for:
- Your own federal and state tax obligations (no withholding provided)
- Maintaining current and valid certifications at your own expense
- Providing your own hand tools and personal PPE unless otherwise specified per project scope
- Complying with all applicable EPA, OSHA, and state regulations independently
Scope of Work
- Execute ACM removal, encapsulation, and disposal tasks per project scope under site Abatement Supervisor
- Set up and maintain containment barriers, negative air pressure systems, and decontamination units
- Properly don, doff, and maintain PPE including full-face respirators, Tyvek suits, and gloves
- Follow site-specific Health & Safety Plans (HASPs) and all applicable regulatory requirements
- Assist with waste packaging, labeling, and manifesting for proper hazardous material disposal
- Participate in required pre-shift safety briefings and toolbox talks
- Maintain clean and organized work areas within containment zones
- Report unsafe conditions, scope deviations, or unforeseen hazards to supervisor immediately
- Support equipment staging, transport, and post-project cleanup activities
Qualifications — Required
- Must be a U.S. Citizen — required for federal base access and security clearance eligibility
- Must possess a REAL ID-compliant identification (gold star) — non-negotiable for military installation entry
- 1–2 years of hands-on asbestos abatement field experience
- Current Asbestos Worker certification with at least one completed annual refresher
- Active North Carolina Abatement License
- Must pass respirator fit test and hold current medical clearance for respirator use
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Must be able to pass federal background check for base access
Qualifications — Preferred
- Experience on federal, DOD, or military housing abatement projects
- Familiarity with negative air machine setup and HEPA vacuum operation
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
- Carry proof of general liability insurance (minimum $1M per occurrence) prior to site engagement
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks throughout full shift
- Comfortable working in full PPE (Tyvek, full-face respirator, gloves) for extended periods
- Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying environmental conditions
- Ability to kneel, crouch, and work in tight or restricted spaces as required by project scope
Compensation & Engagement Terms
- $28.00–$32.00 per hour depending on experience and project scope — paid weekly per invoice
- Project-based engagements with potential for recurring work across active RestoreFast project portfolio
- No benefits, withholding, or employer-side tax contributions — 1099 issued at year end
