Position: Operations Support Specialist
Reports to: Planer Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Overview: The Operations Support Specialist position will ensure smooth operations by managing machine operations and providing coverage during employee breaks in the sawmill, planer, and/or EWP.
Responsibilities:
- Operate all machinery and equipment required for production, ensuring efficiency and safety standards are met.
- Monitor machine performance and conduct regular inspections to identify and resolve issues promptly.
- Assist in the setup, calibration, and maintenance of machines as needed.
- Provide coverage during employee breaks to ensure continuous operation and minimal downtime.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize production schedules and workflow.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to company policies and safety regulations.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisors immediately.
- Follow stand operating procedures (SOPs) and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
- Train new employees on machine operations and safety protocols as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in operating all machinery in the sawmill, planer, and/or EWP.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic mechanical issues.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality control.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules.
