Position: Lead Industrial Electrician
Reports to: PLC & Controls Manager

Position Overview
The Lead Industrial Electrician is responsible for supporting the reliability and performance of all sawmill electrical systems while providing day-to-day leadership, guidance, and technical expertise to the electrical team. This role ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with production goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and support electrical maintenance activities, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
- Install, maintain, and repair the sawmill electrical systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Provide hands-on troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment, minimizing downtime and production impact.
- Assist in prioritizing and coordinating daily work assignments and maintenance activities.
- Ensure completion of work orders in a timely and accurate manner.
- Perform and support preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems ranging from 24V DC to 480V 3-phase.
- Diagnose and repair motor starter circuits, control circuits, and emergency stop (E-stop) systems.
- Support and guide team members in troubleshooting PLC-controlled systems, including sensors, photo eyes, proximity switches, and limit switches.
- Program, commission, and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
- Promote and enforce safe work practices, including strict adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in system reliability, safety, and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Strong electrical troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead by example and support team development.
- Proficient in industrial electrical systems and controls.
- Experience with PLC systems and industrial automation components.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Electrical experience in a manufacturing or sawmill environment preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Previous experience in a lead or senior-level electrical role preferred.
- Willingness to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work scheduled shifts, including overtime as needed.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, and crawl.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for tools and equipment.
- Regularly required to communicate effectively.
- Work performed around moving mechanical parts, at heights, and in environments with dust, fumes, and airborne particles.
- Noise levels range from moderate to very loud.
- The ability to lift up to 50lbs occasionally and carry up to 20lbs frequently without assistance.
