At RA, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We are actively seeking Aquatics Maintenance and Facility Assistants to join our Aquatics team! This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with tools, solving problems, and supporting the behind-the-scenes operations that keep our pool facilities running smoothly.
Aquatics Maintenance and Facility Assistants are responsible for completing and documenting repairs at RA’s pool facilities, with major work occurring pre-season to ensure timely openings. Typical tasks include construction, plumbing, painting, plastering, caulking, light masonry, electrical work, and troubleshooting pool mechanical systems. Assistants also assemble equipment, relocate heavy items, manage inventory, and maintain stock levels of chemicals, janitorial supplies, and administrative materials. They administer chemical dosing to recreational water amenities, follow safety protocols outlined in Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and monitor for adverse reactions.
Candidates must hold a current American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification (provided upon hire) and a Fairfax County approved Pool Operator License (provided upon hire) and are expected to consistently demonstrate the skills outlined in their certification, adhere to all standards and protocols associated with it, and maintain its validity through ongoing compliance and renewal as required.
This position offers 30-40 hours per week from May-September. These hours depend on operational needs and are subject to change.
Aquatics Seasonal Leadership staff are required to attend all mandatory meetings and training sessions as discussed during the interview process. The position is allowed 10-days of unpaid vacation time, in addition to your regularly scheduled days off and no more than 7 consecutive vacation days may be taken at one time.
Hourly wage will be based on the candidate’s experience, education, and overall fit for the role.
What you’ll bring:
- Age 18
- Confident, mature and well-spoken
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage with a diverse population
- Valid drivers license and clean driving record
- Ability to work independently and complete tasks within provided deadlines
- Extremely comfortable working outdoors in varying climates, in elevated areas, confined spaces and around loud mechanical equipment.
- Comfortable with exposure to extreme heat, chemicals, and sunlight
- Experience with using power tools, ladders and SCUBA equipment. Training can be provided.
- Physical ability to move up to 100 lbs, hear whistle alerts from 50 yards, see hand gestures from 25 yards. (Corrective eyewear and assistance devices are permitted)
