This position requires strict adherence to all applicable U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), state, and local transportation regulations.
This role is considered a DOT safety-sensitive position and is subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements, medical qualification standards, and all applicable driver safety regulations.

Essential Responsibilities
Transportation & Safety
- Safely operate company buses and transportation vehicles in compliance with DOT, FMCSA, state, and local regulations.
- Follow assigned routes and schedules while ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers.
- Obey all traffic laws and defensive driving practices at all times.
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, including residents with mobility needs.
- Maintain a courteous, professional, and service-oriented attitude with passengers.
- Perform and document pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections as required by DOT regulations.
- Monitor vehicle condition and immediately report mechanical issues or safety concerns.
- Maintain the cleanliness and basic upkeep of the vehicle interior and exterior.
- Maintain required driving documentation including inspection reports, passenger logs, incident reports, and other required records.
- Report accidents, incidents, or safety concerns immediately according to company policy and DOT requirements.
- Follow all company safety policies and DOT compliance procedures.
- Participate in required safety meetings, training, and compliance programs.
- Communicate clearly with passengers regarding destinations, schedules, and trip details.
- Assist Life Enrichment staff with outing coordination, event set-up, or departmental needs when transportation duties allow.
- Excellent knowledge of traffic rules and regulations.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to interact with residents in a courteous and professional manner.
- Ability to operate and maneuver large vehicles safely.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to schedules.
- Ability to handle and resolve conflicts or difficult situations with passengers.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and ability to perform routine inspections.
- Familiarity with local routes and destinations.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with required endorsements for passenger transport or active Chauffer License.
- Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with company and insurance standards.
- Ability to meet and maintain DOT medical certification requirements for CDL
- Previous bus or passenger transportation experience preferred.

Physical Demands
- Ability to sit for extended periods while driving.
- Ability to climb stairs and assist passengers with boarding and disembarking.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for handling luggage or other items as required.
- Good vision and hearing capabilities to ensure safe operation of the bus.
