Resthave Home is a non-profit resident-centered Skilled Nursing Facility committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care. We are seeking an experienced and proactive Resource Nurse to lead Infection Control and Wound Care programs, support clinical excellence, and enhance resident outcomes.
Position Summary
The Resource Nurse serves as the facility’s Infection Preventionist and Wound Care lead. This role is responsible for coordinating infection control practices, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing expert wound care assessment, treatment, and staff education. The ideal candidate is highly organized, clinically strong, and passionate about improving resident safety and quality of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and implement the facility’s Infection Prevention and Control Program in alignment with state and federal regulations.
- Conduct infection surveillance, tracking, and reporting; lead outbreak investigations and implement mitigation strategies.
- Perform comprehensive wound assessments, develop treatment plans, and coordinate wound care interventions.
- Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and outside providers to optimize resident outcomes.
- Provide staff training and competency validation on infection control practices, aseptic technique, wound care protocols, and best practices.
- Audit and monitor compliance with PPE use, hand hygiene, cleaning/disinfection, isolation precautions, and wound care procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and records according to regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a clinical resource to nursing staff and support quality improvement initiatives across the facility.
Qualifications
- Current RN license in the state of Illinois.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or related clinical setting.
- Specialized experience in infection control and/or wound care strongly preferred.
- WCC, WOCN, or similar wound care certification is a plus.
- Infection Preventionist training (or willingness to complete upon hire).
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
