About The Restaurant at Hill Farm

The restaurant is a celebration of this time and place in Southern Vermont. The newly opened restaurant is located on the historic Hill Farm property accompanying an inn and vegetable farm. Dinner is served in a lofted barn with sweeping mountain views and an open kitchen centered around the wood-fired oven. Menus are inspired by what is coming out of the ground at Hill Farm and from our surrounding food community. A curated artisanal beverage menu highlights regional producers and growers who care for the land.

About the Position

The Line Cook will be responsible for supporting all aspects of daily kitchen service; from receiving orders to preparing and executing meals for service. Applicants should be energetic, charismatic and genuinely hospitable while being capable of working in a fast-paced environment, and keeping product detail and quality at the top of their priorities.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and stocks food items and other necessary supplies.
• Prepares food items by cutting, chopping, mixing.
• Cooks food items by grilling, frying, sautéing, and other cooking methods to specified recipes and standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and complies with food sanitation requirements by properly handling food and ensuring correct storage.
• Cleans and sanitizes cooking surfaces at the end of the shift.

Requirements

• Proven cooking experience, including experience as a Line Cook, Restaurant Cook or Prep Cook
• Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
• Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
• Familiar with industry’s best practices
• The ability to think quickly in a fast-paced environment, while staying productive and efficient
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Aptitude for multi-tasking
• Must be able to work cooperatively and efficiently in a team
• Punctual and reliable for each shift

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

• Restaurant experience: 1 year (Preferred)
