This rewarding position allows you to create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment, ensuring the well-being of the individual while providing essential caregiving services in our home with the opportunity for long term care over weekends.
Responsibilities
- Provide personalized care and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including support with bathing, grooming, dressing, and making meals
- Engage in meaningful activities that promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being including walks and basic outdoor activities.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties.
- Support transportation needs for appointments or community outings using personal transportation assistance or other approved methods.
Experience
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism or intellectual disabilities is highly preferred.
- Experience in group home settings, day programs and or high school special education settings is a big plus.
- Familiarity with dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, hospice care, and memory care strategies will enhance your effectiveness in this role.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and assist with patient transfers using appropriate equipment like Hoyer lifts or other manual handling tools.
- Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration are vital for success in this position.
