Respite Care Charleston (RCC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, as well as their caregivers. We do this through compassionate programming, caregiver support, and community education.
We are seeking an Associate Director who will be responsible for oversight and delivery of existing programs, collaborate to expand and develop new services, manage program staff, provide caregiver support and assist with other activities related to our mission.
This position is community based and requires the ability to work at multiple sites in Charleston County. Occasional on-site program delivery will be required weekdays from 9:15am to 2:00pm. Following onboarding, flexible hours and remote work may be optional for the balance of a 40-hour week.
What You’ll Do
- Ensure successful delivery of programs in accordance with RCC mission and goals
- Oversee the planning and delivery of stimulating programs, with activities that engage diverse individuals with varied levels of neurocognitive impairment
- Provide prospective clients information on RCC programs and services, following up as appropriate
- Conduct new client assessments, create and periodically update records and case notes
- Recruit, hire and train program staff and volunteers, encouraging engagement through regular meetings and continuing education
- Supervise, schedule and manage program staff, conducting regular evaluations and providing coaching
- Maintain ongoing communication with clients to provide support and access to additional resources and services
- Revise and strengthen policies and procedures and ensure adherence to promote safety and program quality
- Monitor resources and procure supplies
- Develop and sustain relationships with program contacts, vendors, donors and community partners to ensure sufficient resources for quality programming
- Ensure maintenance of official records and documents and compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
- Conduct regular evaluations of programs and clients, compile data, draft reports and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders for continuous improvement
- Develop and implement new programs and initiatives aligned with the strategic goals of the organization
- Assist with providing individual support to caregivers and facilitating support groups
- Collaborate with the Director of Outreach and Communications on outreach, fundraising and marketing activities for the nonprofit
- Assist with financial oversight of programs, helping develop program budgets, monitoring use of funds and ensuring adherence to financial controls
- Seeks data and input from various sources concerning unmet community needs.
- Actively develops partnerships and alliances to meet those needs in relation to organizational resources.
- Provides leadership in the process of continuous quality improvement and service excellence.
- Evaluates the programs and services provided by RCC in relation to specified goals and quality assurance protocols and standards.
Who You Are
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience managing personnel, including hiring, training and evaluation.
- Strong project management, program evaluation, organization and interpersonal skills required.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work well independently.
- Professional experience in healthcare, social work, case management or other human services strongly preferred. Experience with dementia or elder care is a significant advantage!
- Able to maintain a positive attitude, calm demeanor and outward confidence under a variety of work conditions.
- Strong time management and computer skills are required, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or Google applications.
- Able to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Reliable transportation throughout the tri-county area.
