ReSOURCE is looking for a Retail Assistant Store Manager to help lead our re-use store in Morrisville, Vermont. ReSOURCE is an innovative non-profit organization with the mission of waste reduction, job skill training and poverty relief. The Retail Assistant Store Manager supports this mission by accepting donations of reusable goods and making a marketplace for their reuse. What the Retail Assistant Store Manager Does

ReSOURCE, and this position, are at the forefront of climate change by diverting reusable goods from our landfill. ReSOURCE, and this position, help our community by making reusable goods available a low cost to our communities.

Every day the Retail Assistant Store Manager ensures we provide top notch customer service at every interaction, keeps a clean and organized store, and manages staff schedules. In addition, the Retail Assistant Store Manager mentors, coaches and role models of exceptional customer service and professionalism.

Big picture, the Retail Assistant Store Manager works with the Store Manager to ensure smooth operations of a 6-day per week store. The Retail Assistant Store Manager finds value in the talents and experience in our staff and works alongside them to bring out the best in what they offer. The Retail Assistant Store Manager also finds value in donated goods and takes initiative to be educated about items.

Essential Functions

• Ability to bend, sit and type at a keyboard throughout the work day.
• Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
• Ability to supervise others in a professional, friendly and direct way.
• Ability to use as well as to train and supervise employees on proper cash register procedures.
• Ability to read, speak and write clearly and professionally.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and staff in English.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds through the work day and up to 100 pounds using a hand truck.
• Ability to work Saturdays.
• Ability to concentrate on and strategically plan for given responsibilities.
• Ability to learn new and innovative ways to help ReSOURCE support its mission.
• Ability to work in a fast pace, high energy, deadline oriented environment.
• Ability to arrive for work on time and maintain acceptable attendance.

Work Schedule & Environment

Hours – 40 hour per week and occasionally more as needed, Saturdays required.

Store Hours – Monday through Saturday 9AM – 6PM

Location – ReSOURCE’s Barre store, no remote work available

Compensation – $20- $21 per hour

This position is supervised by the Store Manager, who is dedicated to their team and store, and has a thorough knowledge of ReSOURCE and the local community.

Job Requirements

The Retail Assistant Store Manager must know how to lead, supervise, and develop a team who rotate shifts and come with a diverse set of skills. They must see their success through the success of others. The Retail Assistant Store Manager must be able to lift up to 50 pounds daily and up to 100 pounds occasionally using equipment.

They must be naturally curious in their approach to customers by engaging with donors and shoppers and be naturally curious about items by educating themselves on the products that come through the doors.

They'll learn concepts specific to thrift retail and the many ways to keep goods out of the waste stream and will be part of the management team engaging in 3 years of professional training in diversity, equity and inclusion at ReSOURCE.
