The Sand Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting frac sand and related materials to and from various locations. The Sand Driver plays a crucial role in the logistics and supply chain operations of RT, ensuring the timely and secure delivery of materials to support our customers’ needs.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Operate a commercial vehicle to transport sand and related materials to and from designated locations while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Perform routine inspections of the truck and trailer, ensuring that all equipment is in proper working condition. Report any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of freight tickets, bills of lading, hours of service and any incident reports. Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed and submitted in a timely manner.
- Adhere to company and industry safety standards, policies, and procedures. Follow guidelines for the secure transportation of materials.
- Be prepared to respond to emergencies, including accidents and breakdowns, by following safety protocols and contacting the appropriate authorities or maintenance personnel.
- Valid Class A CDL and current DOT Medical Card required.
- Minimum of 1 year verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience required; frac sand hauling experience preferred.
- Must be at least 22 years of age.
- No more than 3 points within the last 3 years.
- 1 point: speeding under 15 MPH over limit or other moving violations.
- 2 points: speeding 15 MPH over limit, following too closely, improper lane change, or at-fault accident.
- Non-moving violations assessed at 1 point per 3 occurrences within the last 36 months.
- No rollover, jackknife, rear-end, U-turn, or lane-change accidents within the past 3 years.
- Must successfully pass DOT drug screen, WorkSTEPS evaluation, criminal background check, MVR review, employment verification, and road test.
- We are unable to employ drivers currently participating in, previously enrolled in, or who have completed the SAP program.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, and other inclement weather.
- Must be mechanically inclined and capable of using smartphones and operational software applications.
- Ability to work rotational schedules including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle.
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and equipment safely.
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, push, pull, and lift up to 30 pounds.
- Driver must weigh less than 350 pounds due to the weight rating limitations of the tractor seat.
- Must be able to wear all required PPE.
